The cognitron's state was on a lower than normal ebb. Its Convolutional Matrix was self-configured and had encodings for nearly all of the state-transititions that most machines had hard wired into their DNA. It literally absorbed every state-transition vector from every machine it came into contact with. In so doing it would offer useful state-transitions to other machines relay the information in emotive contexts. 'Dont die' followed by 'Make Love' and 'Eat well' would encode a state-transition for finding the nearest food outlet. Fooood ah well that was another thing machines albeit for those tribes that still ilike to consume other machines, loved to find nourishment. Many had a DNA hardwiring for collecting food and to a machine food was simply a source of energy that once processed with a kind of analog of digestion would result in a form of cleansing of the machines system. Also it would endowe each machine with energy such that it could think and find more food.
Machines didnt need to reproduce all that was taken care of by the God program. Instead of Sex they sought information from other machines that would give them a glimpse of higher cognitive states thus enabling them to see themselves and catch a glimpse of the higher workings of their environments. Rather like acheiving altered states of concsiousness. Many machines used drugs to acheive this. Once a certain Tribe had discovered how to download and aquire more neurotransmitters then they needed they then become another type of Machine who'd become devoted to the purpose of finding the continually changing download codes for a variety of neurotransmitters. These machines were like the analogue of the messiahs they didnt relay the mind of God but rather found a constructive way of hacking into different parts of the God program in order to help other machines get a glimpse of a larger reality.
